Calliope River Camping Ground, Calliope, is accessible, and can be camped on both sides of the river. Camping on the southern side is on rocky river flats, the northern side is set high above the river on grass under the shade of large gums, good for both trailer and tent based camping.
This is a popular spot for river fishing with many large species of fish being found in the river along with prawns and crabs. A boat ramp is provided on the southern side by the weir that is foot accessible, and joins both side of the camp area.
A rather pretty spot with basic toilet facilities a short drive south of Gadstone and the best thing is that its PET FRIENDLY and FREE!
Cost: FREE
